Privacy Policy of The Japan Landslide Society

The Japan Landslide Society (hereinafter referred to as the Society) hereby establishes the " Privacy Policy of The Japan Landslide Society " (hereinafter referred to as the "Privacy Policy") regarding the collection, use, and management of personal information. This Privacy Policy applies to individuals who use the services provided by the Society. The Society complies with relevant laws, regulations, and guidelines regarding personal information and will handle it appropriately in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

1. Collection of Personal Information
The Society will collect personal information only to the extent necessary for the Society's purposes and activities. In principle, the provision of personal information will be based on the provider's willingness.

2. Use of Personal Information
The Society will use collected personal information within the scope of the Society's purposes and activities. Personal information will not be disclosed or provided to third parties without the individual's consent, except when there is a legitimate reason to do so in order to achieve the Society's purposes and activities. However, in any of the following cases, personal information may be used, disclosed, or provided for purposes other than those of the Society's objectives and business:

• 3) When the handling of personal information is outsourced, in whole or in part, to the extent necessary to achieve the Society's objectives and business (for example, when providing addresses and other information to subcontractors for the delivery service of the Society's journal or administrative correspondence, when providing information necessary for the maintenance of the membership management system or the outsourcing of the officer and delegate election system, or when necessary to verify member eligibility for the research conference registration system).
• 4) When the Board of Directors deems it necessary for other legitimate reasons.

3. Management of Personal Information
The Society will endeavor to properly manage collected personal information to prevent it from being leaked, destroyed, altered, or lost. However, publicly available personal information and personal information disclosed by the provider themselves are not subject to the Society's management.

4. Disclosure and Correction of Personal Information
In principle, the Society will disclose personal information without delay when a provider requests disclosure of their personal information. In addition, if an individual requests correction of their personal information, the Society will, as a general rule, make such correction without delay.

5. Retention and Deletion of Personal Information
Unless the individual requests deletion of their personal information, the Society will retain the personal information provided to it only to the extent necessary to achieve the Society's objectives and activities, and will delete it without delay when it is no longer necessary.

6. Handling of Personal Information on the Society's Website
Use of the Society's website is at the user's own risk. The Society assumes no responsibility for any damages arising from the use of information obtained from the Society's website or other websites linked to the Society's website.

7. Changes to the Privacy Policy
The Society may update the Privacy Policy without notice to comply with changes in law or for other reasons. Changes to the Privacy Policy will take effect upon resolution by the Board of Directors, and any changes will be promptly notified on this website.
